Activities

Inch National School is proud to hold Active School credentials, reflecting our commitment to promoting physical activity and inclusivity among our students. Here are some of the activities and initiatives we offer:

School Sports Teams

Our students participate in various sports competitions, including Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, and soccer tournaments. We also organise indoor and outdoor blitzes to provide opportunities for friendly competition.

Nature Walks

We organise local nature walks to Inch Village, Rath Fort, Glenbower Woods, and Youghal Beaches, encouraging outdoor exploration and appreciation of nature.

Swimming Lessons

Children from 1st to 4th class attend swimming lessons as part of our PE curriculum, promoting water safety and aquatic skills.

In-Class Movement Breaks

In addition to teaching the PE curriculum, we incorporate movement and sensory breaks throughout the day to promote physical activity and enhance learning.

Sports and Fun Day

We host an annual sports and fun day, a highlight of the year, where students enjoy a day of sports activities and treats organised by the Parents’ Council.

Annual In-School Football League

We organise a football league with teams picked from 6th class, fostering team spirit and friendly competition among students.

Active Week

Each April, we hold Active Week, inviting outside coaches and parent volunteers to engage students in a variety of sports and activities.

Visiting Coaches

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to learn from visiting coaches in sports such as football, hurling, dance, zumba, skipping, rugby, Irish dancing, tennis, and handball.

Chess

As part of the Ficheall Schools network, we promote chess for its social, cognitive, and mental benefits. Students learn chess weekly and participate in in-school leagues and tournaments against other Ficheall Schools.

Through these activities and initiatives, Inch National School provides a well-rounded education that nurtures physical, social, and cognitive development, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore their interests and talents.
