At Inch National School, we are proud of our rich tradition of music education, which plays an integral role in our school community. Here are some of the music initiatives and opportunities we offer to our students:
- Ceoltás Lessons
We are fortunate to host weekly Ceoltás lessons in our school, providing students with the opportunity to learn and appreciate traditional Irish music. These lessons help preserve our cultural heritage and instil a love for traditional music in our students. - Tin Whistle Lessons
Children from 1st class upwards all receive tin whistle lessons, allowing them to develop their musical skills and proficiency on this traditional instrument. - School Bank of Instruments
We have a diverse range of musical instruments available for students to learn, including concertinas, button accordions, and ukuleles. When students reach 5th class, they have the option to learn one of these instruments, further enriching their musical education. - Classical Music Exploration
In partnership with Music Generation Waterford and East Cork Early Music, we participate in exploring classical music through events such as the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival. This provides students with opportunities to engage with different genres of music and broaden their musical horizons.
Through our music education initiatives, we aim to nurture a love for music, develop musical skills and talents, and provide enriching experiences that inspire creativity and expression.
