At Inch National School, we believe in empowering our students and giving them a voice in shaping their school experience. Our Student Council plays a vital role in achieving this by providing a platform for students to voice their opinions, offer suggestions, and contribute to various aspects of school life.
Role of the Student Council:
- Provide an opportunity for pupils to voice their opinions and offer suggestions on school matters.
- Act as a channel of communication within the school, between students, and between home and school.
- Encourage students to organise events and represent the school positively during these events.
- Play a significant role in improving the school environment and fostering a positive school culture.
Election Process
- Students from First to Sixth Class nominate themselves for a place on the Student Council.
- Nominees engage in debates and canvassing within their classes.
- Elections are held in each class, and two representatives from each class are elected to the Student Council for the academic year.
- Elected representatives are expected to actively participate in meetings, activities, and be role models for other students.
Student Council Meetings:
- Meetings are held once a fortnight, facilitated by a teacher.
- Agenda items are collected from all classes prior to meetings, including topics suggested by students or brought forward by the teacher.
- Discussions may cover various topics such as school rules, behaviour, health and safety, and extracurricular activities.
- The Student Council reports the outcomes of meetings to the other classes.
Roles in School Activities:
- The Student Council plays a significant role in organising school celebrations, fundraising events, special occasions, presentations, and implementing new initiatives.
- They contribute to events like Friendship Week, cake sales, Christmas concerts, book fairs, and hosting visitors to the school.
The active involvement of our Student Council representatives contributes to a positive and inclusive school environment at Inch National School.
